Date of Establishment: Department of Commerce of Uluberia College was established in the year 1967 and was upgraded to the Honours course in the year 1997.

2. Postgraduate level: M.Com in Accounting & Finance (DDE of VU)
Vision:
From the very beginning of its establishment the department of Commerce of Uluberia College played a significant role in expansion of the higher education in Commerce for the students of Uluberia sub-division and its surroundings through its academic, non-academic and extracurricular activities. Post Graduate in Commerce-M.Com (Distance Mode) has been started under Vidyasagar University in 2008. Our department is committed to providing excellence in Commerce and Business Education both at UG and PG level.
Mission:
The mission of the department is the pursuit of knowledge through lifelong learning in academic and extra-curricular activities and to develop strong personal values. The department takes pride in emphasising theory and practise where students gain the breadth of knowledge and depth of experience that provide meaningful contribution to career and community. The faculty members are competent enough to guide the students and experienced enough in academic and extra-curricular activities.

Faculty members are actively engaged not only in teaching but also in personal and professional counseling of the student.Students are taught with utmost care and sincerity. Tutorial classes, Class tests, Student seminars, Quiz Contest, Departmental tour/picnic and Departmental seminars are conducted for upliftment of the students.

Strengths
Qualified and well experienced teaching staff with a well mixure of young and old teachers.
One teacher has completed Ph.D. Two teachers are pursuing Ph.D. one teacher completed M.Phil.
Sound infrastucture and good educational environment.
Fully equiped computerised Library with internet and wi-fi facility.
Weaknesses
Most of the students are economically and academically underpriviledged
Composite college complex hence have to share infrastructure available
Majority of the students are "Earning while Learning Students". they find it
difficult to keep terms with the college sometimes and complete the course.
Maximum of the students are first generation learners.
Opportunities
Sports, cultural activities, NCC, placement cell activities help students to develop their personality
and get an opportunity for all round development of themselves.
we have M.Com Course in Distance Mode as most of our students are working, it is the opprtunity
for further study.
Challenges
Students from economcally and academically underpriviledged background having little
family support
Many colleges within the nearby area offering Commerce as undergraduate course.
